We are excited to announce that Oak Hills Elementary School and California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) have formed a partnership to bring new visual and digital arts opportunities to our students. During the course of the school year, all students will receive 6 weeks of instruction in the following areas:
UPK–1 (Lower Grades) Visual Art Instruction in studio visual art in painting, drawing, sculpting, color theory, and art history. Students will have hands-on art projects that will engage their creativity.
Grade 2 Photography Instruction in using digital cameras and/or iPads to take digital photographs and edit them using free digital software.
Grade 3 Stop-Motion Animation Instruction in Stop-Motion Animation using free animation software on iPads to create short animated films.
Grade 4 Silent Filmmaking Instruction in writing, directing, shooting, acting in, and editing silent films using iPads and free editing software.
Grade 5 Beat-making Instruction in creating beats and electronic music on the free apps on mobile devices and on the computer, learning how to use a digital interface, record audio samples, construct songs with a Verse and Chorus song structure, edit audio clips, and mix and master audio.
Grade 6 Documentary Filmmaking Instruction in researching, writing, directing, shooting, and editing documentary films using iPads and free editing software.
