Our Math Olympiad team saw an incredible number of dedicated students rise to the challenge, tackling complex problems with perseverance and determination. Their commitment to studying, learning, and pushing the limits of their mathematical abilities has been truly inspiring. Competing not only among themselves and their peers but also on a national level, they have demonstrated exceptional talent and hard work.
We would also like to give special recognition to the outstanding individuals who placed in the competition:

Competition #5 Update
Our year of Math Olympiad competitions has concluded! The students finished with their second best overall average, just behind the very first competition. This means that they have really learned and stepped up their game! I couldn't be more proud of all of these mathletes, having dedicated every Tuesday afternoon since October to sharpening their math and logic skills. And best of all, I have a strong sense that most of them truly enjoyed the experience, the camaraderie with their teammates, and the challenges they faced together. Well done Coyotes! For this final competition, the overall average was 2.6. Four students achieved a perfect 5 for the competition. Per grade:

Competition #4 Update
We are approaching the home stretch, having completed four of the season's five competitions. The competitions are definitely getting challenging, pushing the students to their limit. This one was even more challenging than the last. Yet, we had four talented students achieve a perfect score. And if you've been following along, yes, we still have one student who has remained perfect all year! Regardless of their scores, these bright students are learning and growing with each practice and competition they participate in. Some are seeing concepts for the first time while others are sharpening their skills. But all are improving in their understanding of logic, arithmetic, geometry, and mathematics. That said, our overall average this go around was 1.9. Here are the results per grade:

Competition #3 Update
We are back in the groove and are now officially in the second half of the Math Olympiad season as we have completed three of the five competitions. In general, it seems the competitions this year are a bit harder than years past. This one seemed to be the most challenging one yet, but the students are all stepping up and giving it their best. Despite the overall average being on the lower side, we still had 4 students achieve a perfect score of all 5 problems correct. And yes, we still have one student who remains perfect for the year! The overall average was 2.1. Here are the results per grade:

Competition #2 Update
This past competition on December 17, 2024, was one of the hardest we've had. We had a lot of students seeing success in the first three problems, but the last two were very challenging, especially the last one. In fact, in this, my fourth year of leading the Math Olympiad, this was the first competition where not a single student finished early. We had only one student attain a perfect score. And to her credit, she is the only remaining student to be perfect for the year thus far. The overall average was 2.5. Here are the results per grade:

Competition #1 Update
On November 19, 2024, the team participated in its first Math Olympiad competition of the year. While it probably felt daunting to the first-time students (especially 4th-graders), the team did great! We had four students achieve a perfect score of 5 points. And more impressively, nine students had 4 problems correct! The overall average was 3.0. Here are the results per grade:

Love Math?
Oak Hills provides the opportunity for students who excel at Math to have a chance to compete using their Mathematics skills!
Students get to participate in the Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS). They get the opportunity to problem solve and strengthen their understanding of math concepts!
OHEF helps fund this after school math program by paying for the MOEMS registration.
Schedule: Tuesdays 2:30pm-3:30pm in the Science Lab Check our Calendar for Math Olympiad events!
Thank you Mr. Scopio & all the parent volunteers who make this program possible!
