Throughout the 2022-2023 school year, Oak Hills Foundation will be bringing hands-on workshops via Science Made Fun to Grades 1-6! Each grade will be choosing two workshops that aligns with NGSS and their curriculum.
High Touch High Tech delivers in-school science field-trips that transform your classroom into a Living Laboratory! Kids become a real scientist and learn by doing the actual experiments. These programs are totally hands-on and totally participatory by each child.
4th Grade - Survive & Thrace
Our 4th graders learned about animal adaptations and how animals use them to to survive in their environment. They saw how "whale blubber" would keep them warm in freezing waters, how bird beaks differ to help them retrieve and eat different foods, and got to make their own cactus environment for night time creatures.
5th Grade - Matter Matters
Professor Pat talked about the different types of matters and the transitions between matter states. The students experimented with a chemical reaction and got to check out different states of matter in several different experiments!
1st Grade - Animal Adaptations
Professor Pat talked about the animal adaptations to go with our 1st grade curriculum! Our 1st Grade Coyotes got to see some animal adaptations up close! He showed the students how some animals use heat signatures, had the students analyze photos of camouflaged creatures and examine the adaptations in feathers as well. For their take home project - the students made nests using clay and different materials in hopes that a bird may use the home they built for a nest.
