LA County Science and Engineering Fair

We couldn't be more proud of our eight 6th graders who represented Oak Hills at the Los Angeles County Science and Engineering. These students were competing against 6-7-8th graders from private and magnet schools.

The Fair was held virtually with students sending in videos of themselves giving their presentations and Judges interviewing students using Rocket Judge. All 8 students were interviewed by the Judges in their categories. It took incredible self motivation and dedication to participate in this year's County Fair and these students are truly shining stars.

Way to go 6th grade Coyotes Scientists & Engineers!

Biggest THANK YOU to Dr. Tonia Cohen who helped our eight students with the abstracts, presentations, and held interview practices! They could not have done all this without her tremendous help and support through this whole process.

We had a total of 7 third-party volunteer Judges donate hours of their time this week to interview our students and evaluate their projects. The interview process provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to explain what they learned and answer questions about their work. We are so grateful for our Judges who include architects, bio-pharmaceutical engineers, biochemists, molecular biologists, and microbiologists.

We also need to express sincere gratitude to all the parent volunteers as well! As well as a huge thank you to Dr. Tonia Cohen, who puts her heart and soul into our Oak Hills STEM Expo and supports our sixth graders who move onto the LA County Science & Engineering Fair! Our STEM Expo could not have worked without each and everyone one of our volunteers. Thank You!!
